The NPO will operate under the Project Manager (Team Leader) with help from the Deputy Team Leader in ITC and closely with the rest of the project team They will also help organize and check the quality of the work of international and local experts recruited to help with the project's interventions, or as the Team Leader says
Duties, Roles, and Responsibilities
Help the project team construct market systems development interventions based on the results of the dairy sector's market systems assessments, with help from ILO and ITC experts To do this, we will talk to constituents, market participants, and other development partners
Help the project team by working with both the private and public sectors to design, carry out, and keep an eye on market systems development interventions These pilot programs will be made to fix problems in the dairy industry and help women and men living in poverty get jobs and make more money by boosting trade and small and medium-sized businesses
Talk to the right people in the public and private sectors, both at the national and local levels This includes regular meetings and visits to project partners (both private and public) in the project areas
Work with other team members to make sure that interventions and staff are complementary and that the burden is manageable
Create and lead intervention business models and strategies for scaling up to help further mainstream the tested market systems development interventions or to bring in more people to copy the pilots
Help the results measurement and monitoring and evaluation officers create and put into action the monitoring and results measurement (MRM) system, and make sure it is updated regularly Pay special attention to how business models, results chains, measurement plans, and data collection tools are designed
Help the knowledge and communications officer make learning and communication products by giving them technical information, directing field visits, setting up meetings, and giving technical advice to products
Write reports and presentations that let project management, donors, and stakeholders know how the project is doing and what the results are for the activities and interventions This involves giving information about areas that need to be improved and making sure that programming adjustments are made in keeping with the MSD approach
Be the main technical expert and counselor on dairy both inside and outside the company
Help plan workshops, trainings, and events, and help make sure that the ILO's existing training materials are relevant to the project's goals and the local situation
Make sure that all actions, from planning to execution, focus on gender issues and promoting gender equality and women's economic empowerment
Take part in MSD onboarding activities, internal and external training, events, and peer learning exchanges, like the ILO's MSD Hub or regional exchanges with other ILO projects, to improve your skills in the market systems development approach Work with ITC support workers to learn more about trade, particularly how to promote exports
Do any other tasks that the team leader or deputy team leader asks you to do

Education
A bachelor's degree or the equivalent in agriculture, business, economics, international development, or another technical discipline that is related
Experience
At least three years of experience in the dairy industry and/or in the private, public, and development sectors Having worked on a market systems development program, a private sector development program, or in the private sector will be a big plus Having worked on trade-related projects, especially ones that promote exports, will be a plus It will be helpful to have worked with both the public and commercial sectors on projects involving many stakeholders
Languages: Very good at speaking and writing English Skills: Knowledge of the technical aspects of Uganda's dairy sector, such as governance, regulation, actors, investments, and trade promotion
A good understanding of the problems and issues facing the dairy industry in UgandUnderstanding the market systems development method Knowledge about commerce and promoting exports Research and analytical skills, as well as the capacity to come up with and put into action new ways to solve difficult problems Being knowledgeable of politics and how social and economic forces affect them Ability to respond to changes in the project and things that are important to it with flexibility and change project activities and processes as needed The ability to write Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others Ability to understand and follow the rules, laws, policies, and procedures that apply Ability to keep good working ties with important people Ability to handle conflicting priorities Ability to cooperate with people from other cultures and show behavior and attitudes that are gender-sensitive and don't discriminate Quickly learning how to use new software and systems Good knowledge of PC software (including word processor, spreadsheet and presentation software) such as Microsoft Office
