Job Summary

The Regional Collections Manager at Sun King in Western Uganda will oversee collections for pay-as-you-go (PAYG) solar products, optimizing repayment rates through data analysis and field engagement. This role ensures customer satisfaction while aligning with Sun King’s operational standards and financial goals.

Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities

Analyze regional collections data using appropriate tools to provide insights for improving portfolio quality
Monitor repayment performance and develop daily, weekly, and monthly strategies to recover payments from delinquent customers
Conduct market visits to assess sales quality and gather insights to address product issues and accelerate payments
Provide weekly updates to Sales and Risk Management teams on field activities, outcomes, and customer feedback
Design, test, and implement collection strategies to streamline repayments and enhance customer experience
Collaborate with Area Business Managers and Field Sales Executives to repossess merchandise from non-paying clients when necessary
Adhere to Risk team guidelines and report instances of product tampering or fraud observed in the field
Support actions against fraudulent activities, such as product tampering or false sales by Field Sales Executives
Train Field Sales Executives on handling repossessions and challenging client collections
Ensure Field Officers complete collection calls and repossession tasks on time
Recruit staff and establish cash collection stations in key regions for efficient collections

Qualifications, Education, and Competencies

Bachelor’s degree or higher diploma in Finance, Community Development, Communication, Credit Risk Management, or a related field
At least 3 years of experience in collections or credit recovery, preferably in microfinance, fintech, or banking
Experience working with customers in remote areas
Strong analytical and numerical skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently
Capacity to multitask and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Willingness to conduct field visits to collect payments and address customer issues
