Overview of the Role

The Relationship Manager is in charge of building and managing a group of corporate, commercial, or wealthy individual clients. The job is all about increasing the bank's assets and liabilities by actively seeking new clients, strengthening existing ones, and providing excellent financial advice to help the business reach its growth goals

Responsibilities, Duties, and Roles

  • Build long-term, trusted relationships with a portfolio of assigned clients by managing and growing it proactively
  • Find and acquire new business clients that fit with the bank's strategic goals
  • Look at clients' financial records, credit history, and business plans to see if they are creditworthy and what banking services they require
  • Write and present strong credit proposals and facility memoranda for clients who need financing
  • Actively cross-sell the bank's full range of products and services, such as transactional accounts, treasury, trade finance, and digital solutions
  • Continuously monitor the performance of the client portfolio, making sure it follows the terms and conditions and spotting early signs of risk
  • Increase both interest and non-interest revenue from the managed portfolio to meet and exceed expectations
  • Stay up to date on market trends, competitor activity, and economic developments to find new business prospects

Education, Skills, and Qualifications

RequirementDetails
EducationA Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Economics, or a comparable discipline Having a Master's degree or professional credentials like ACCA, CPA, CFA, or CIBA would help you even more
ExperienceAt least 3–5 years of proven experience as a Relationship Manager, Corporate Banker, or Commercial Banker in a financial institution 
Proven experience in credit analysis, business growth, and portfolio management 
It is very important to have a solid portfolio of clients

Competencies: 
Great at sales, negotiation, and giving presentations 
Great at analyzing finances and assessing risk 
Great at talking to people and getting along with them 
Focused on results and has a history of accomplishing goals 
Knows how to use MS Office and banking software
