Job Summary:
This job is in charge of deciding how the Fund's portfolio will be invested. The CIO will be in charge of the investment portfolio, taking into account things like liquidity, time horizon, legal limits, taxes, and special situations.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Create and put into action a broad, long-term investment plan that covers many asset classes and countries.
- Suggest the Investment Policy and strategy to the Board, including how to divide up assets strategically.
- Keep an eye on and predict changes in the global economy, politics, and markets. Also, keep an eye on the performance of your portfolio, how well it follows benchmarks, and how liquid it is.
- Look at the current structure of the firm, its investing philosophy, and its procedures.
- Take part in programs that help Uganda's financial markets grow.
- Set up and keep strong risk management frameworks.
- Give your thoughts on the strategic planning process.
- Find and suggest new types of assets and new ways to handle investments.
- Make rules and procedures for different kinds of investments.
- Take charge of creating models for managing investment risk
- Create and keep a team of investment experts. Build, lead, and mentor a top-notch investment team.
- Show the Board your investment plans, results, and dangers.
- Make sure you follow all of your legal and ethical duties.
- Choosing, evaluating, and finding external consultants to work with
- Talk about fees, conditions, and agreements
Requirements and Experience:
- A master's degree or higher in business administration (MBA), finance, economics, or a similar subject
- A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, commerce, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline
- Professional credentials like the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), CAIA, or FRM
- At least 12 years of experience in investment management that has gotten better over time
- A lot of exposure to many asset types that are good for institutional portfolios
- At least eight years in a top management position
- Experience with rule-based quantitative asset allocation strategies (preferred)
