Market Complexity
UBL operates a major brewery at Port Bell, nationwide logistics, and 120+ field sales staff. The Great Lakes region presents high-risk security challenges: organized crime, terrorism, illicit trade, and cross-border threats. Brand Protection is critical due to rising counterfeit and contraband activity.
Role Purpose
Support the Legal Director and CS/BP Manager in delivering security and anti-illicit trade strategies across Uganda and the Great Lakes. Lead threat assessment, investigations, law enforcement liaison, and crisis response while embedding global standards.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Security
- Protect people, assets, brands, and operations from threats
- Produce intelligence briefings, threat assessments, and investigation reports
- Conduct security risk assessments for all UBL operations
- Advise UBL Leadership on risks and mitigations
- Develop proactive security programs and guidelines
- Conduct vulnerability assessments at all sites
- Lead crisis response and Business Continuity Management (BCM)
- Liaise with law enforcement and government officials
- Train staff and third parties on security awareness
- Manage control room operations and third-party providers
Brand Protection
- Drive anti-illicit trade strategy (counterfeit, contraband, parallel trade)
- Coordinate surveillance, raids, and prosecutions with law enforcement
- Collect and ship suspect product samples for analysis
- Map illicit supply chains and gather evidence
- Engage URA, UNBS, URSB, DPP, Interpol for enforcement
- Train internal/external stakeholders on brand protection
- Monitor and report illicit trade trends weekly/monthly
General & Leadership
- Manage CS/BP budgets, accruals, and third-party contracts
- Drive cost efficiency and compliance
- Lead cross-functional projects to reduce risk
- Build internal/external networks for intelligence and enforcement
- Advise senior leadership with confidence and clarity

Qualifications & Experience
- University degree + 3 years post-qualification experience
- Legal or Corporate Security training preferred
- Prior law enforcement, government, or corporate security role
- Expertise in threat analysis, physical security, and investigations
- Experience in fraud/civil investigations and witness interviews
- Fluent in English (verbal/written)
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders
- Willingness to travel across Uganda and Great Lakes
