Credit Officer (1 Job Opening)

Job Purpose

To review approve and manage loan applications in line with SACCO standards making sure the loan portfolio is healthy and providing great service to members

Main Duties

• Get loan applications from members and handle them
• Do in-depth credit checks and risk assessments on borrowers
• Go to the field to check the information and value the collateral
• Write loan reports and give the credit committee your suggestions
• Handle the loan disbursement procedure and make sure all the paperwork is in order
• Keep an eye on the loan portfolio and make sure that payments and late payments are made
• Teach members about loans and how to handle their money

Experience and Qualifications

• At least a diploma in finance accounting business administration microfinance economics or a similar discipline
• Must have a valid Class A driving permit and be able to ride a motorcycle to get to work
• Good at math and analysis
• Knowledge of relevant computer programs such as MS Office (particularly Excel) and SACCO software
• Age: 20 to 30 years
• Having worked in a credit function at a bank SACCO or microfinance company before will be a big plus
• Great at talking to people and getting along with them
