Job Summary
The Food Services Supervisor (Pre-Opening) will lead a team to deliver exceptional guest service during the setup of a new Marriott property in Kampala. The role involves overseeing operations, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and supporting staff training and development for a successful hotel launch.
Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Foster teamwork to deliver outstanding guest service and meet customer needs
- Monitor staff grooming and attire, addressing any discrepancies
- Perform opening and closing duties, including preparing materials, cleaning, and securing facilities
- Maintain clean, organized storage areas using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles
- Conduct scheduled inventories, stock checks, and order necessary supplies
- Inspect dining areas to ensure adequate seating, quality service, and guest safety
- Complete work orders for repairs and maintenance
- Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching staff
- Serve as a role model and point of contact for the Guarantee of Fair Treatment/Open Door Policy
- Adhere to company safety and security policies, report incidents, and complete safety training
- Maintain a professional appearance, protect proprietary information, and safeguard company assets
- Greet guests, anticipate their needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and express genuine gratitude
- Communicate clearly and professionally, fostering positive working relationships
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and propose innovations for efficiency, productivity, and safety
- Review information in various formats and inspect tools, equipment, or machines for defects
- Perform physical tasks, including standing or walking for entire shifts, lifting up to 50 pounds, and navigating stairs or tight spaces
- Execute additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Education, and Skills
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- At least 2 years of related work experience in hospitality or food services
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience
- No license or certification required
