Job Summary

M-KOPA is seeking a Fraud Investigator to protect its mission of financial inclusion by uncovering and preventing fraudulent activities. 

This role involves conducting field and desktop investigations partnering with law enforcement and developing proactive strategies to safeguard company resources and ensure honest customers receive the credit they deserve

Key Responsibilities

Investigations & Analysis

  • Conduct field and desktop investigations using advanced fraud detection techniques
  • Uncover fraud patterns through data mining and analytical exercises
  • Develop innovative proactive strategies to stay ahead of fraudulent activities

Justice & Recovery

  • Partner with law enforcement to bring confirmed fraud cases to justice
  • Manage case closure within strict timelines for swift resolution
  • Recover assets and protect company resources through strategic investigation

Fraud Prevention & Training

  • Train teams across departments on fraud prevention best practices
  • Provide actionable insights from customers and field agents to strengthen defenses
  • Support analyst teams in implementing protective measures for the sales network

Strategic Influence

  • Prepare comprehensive reports that influence business strategy
  • Deliver recommendations to improve credit quality and portfolio performance
  • Act as the critical link between field operations and strategic decision-making

Qualifications and Competencies

CategoryDetails
Certification & ExperienceCertified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or equivalent fraud-related certification 5+ years of professional experience in fraud investigation or related fields
Technical SkillsAdvanced proficiency in Excel PowerPoint and Word Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify fraud indicators through data analysis
Language & CommunicationFluency in Swahili and English (additional languages are a bonus) Excellent communication skills to explain complex findings to various stakeholders
Personal AttributesComfortable working independently in diverse environments including rural areas Natural leader who builds trust with customers law enforcement and internal teams Growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development
