Job Summary
The Revenue Accounting Consultant will enhance Uganda Airlines’ Passenger Revenue Accounting (PRA) capabilities by conducting a comprehensive review, implementing improvements, and training the PRA team. The role aims to align processes with IATA and IFRS standards, reduce revenue leakage by 20% within six months, and ensure sustainable system enhancements over a one-year engagement.
Consultancy Objectives
- Conduct a complete review of PRA processes within 3 months, implementing at least three industry-standard improvements for accuracy and efficiency
- Deliver a comprehensive training program to make all PRA team members proficient in key processes within 8 months
- Reduce revenue leakage by 20% within 6 months using auditing controls and system improvements
- Ensure full compliance with IATA and IFRS standards within 3 months, documenting procedures for ongoing improvements
- Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) aligned with IATA revenue accounting guidelines within 6 months
Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Full PRA Evaluation: Review the Amadeus Revenue Accounting system, identify gaps, and recommend improvements based on industry best practices
- Training and Capacity Building: Deliver hands-on training on critical PRA processes, including sales data handling, fare maintenance, proration, refunds, EMDs, fare auditing, and interline billing
- Minimizing Revenue Leakage: Implement auditing methods to address revenue loss from uncollected fees, fare differences, and tax settlements; establish automated checks to prevent fraud and errors
- System Integration and Improvement: Optimize data flow across ERP, reservation systems, and GDS; propose enhancements for real-time revenue recognition
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure PRA processes comply with IATA, IFRS, and local regulations; develop SOPs and manage deferred revenue
- Support and Mentorship: Provide ongoing guidance, conduct assessments, and ensure sustainable process improvements
- System Enhancements: Advise on optimizing the Amadeus Revenue Accounting system and integrating automated tools
- Interline Revenue Management: Train staff on IATA’s Clearing House, BSP, and ARC for interline billing and prorate agreements
- Audit and Revenue Assurance: Implement controls to ensure data accuracy and recover lost revenue; train team on Amadeus Sales Audit solution
- Analytics and Reporting: Use analytics for pricing and profitability insights; develop real-time financial reporting systems
- Dispute and Interline Management: Establish processes for resolving interline billing disputes and automating settlements
- Financial Reconciliations: Implement automated reconciliation tools for sales, revenue, and payment data across channels
Qualifications, Education, and Skills
- Minimum 15 years of experience in airline revenue accounting, with expertise in interline billing, revenue recognition, and IFRS compliance
- Proven track record in developing revenue assurance frameworks and audit procedures to minimize leakage
- Full diploma in revenue accounting for passenger streams or equivalent qualifications
- Deep knowledge of IATA regulations and airline revenue management systems
- Experience with Amadeus Revenue Accounting system is a significant advantage
- Strong communication and training skills to mentor PRA staff and explain complex processes
