Position Overview

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Structure & Rotating Equipment Engineer to oversee quality compliance during the installation pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of structural and rotating equipment projects in Uganda

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop Verification & Control Activity Reports (VCAR) outlining scope work and budget for structural and rotating equipment audits
  • Conduct inspections of installation and commissioning activities following approved procedures
  • Provide technical expertise in pressure vessel design bearing design stress analysis lubrication systems rotor dynamics and vibration analysis
  • Support shutdown and turnaround operations
  • Review equipment procurement documentation
  • Offer technical support for certification teams including risk assessments design reviews and HAZOP studies
  • Provide construction installation and commissioning support for rotating equipment
  • Establish and maintain safety safeguards for testing equipment

Qualifications and Requirements

ExperienceMinimum 7 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering and design At least 3 years of experience on international projects
CertificationsMinimum Certificate of Registered Supervision Engineer or equivalent
Technical KnowledgeComprehensive understanding of pressure vessel design bearing systems stress analysis and rotor dynamics Extensive knowledge of construction installation and commissioning processes Familiarity with oil and gas industry safety standards Proficiency in predictive maintenance implementation and management Knowledge of balancing methods critical speeds and shaft coupling techniques
Software SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office applications Experience with CAD software
Additional CapabilitiesAbility to conduct technical audits and performance reviews Willingness to travel to project sites as required Good physical health for site-based work
Personal SkillsStrong executive and planning abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Team-oriented with collaborative approach Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
