Position Summary

Bureau Veritas is seeking a qualified Welding Engineer to oversee quality control for piping-related projects in Uganda The role involves ensuring compliance with international standards and specifications throughout pipeline fabrication installation and testing phases

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review and approve procedures reports and records for pipeline manufacturing fabrication storage transportation installation and testing
  • Ensure integrity and traceability of all piping activities including fabrication installation and testing
  • Witness and supervise material verification dimensional checks piping fabrication and repair processes
  • Oversee non-metallic piping connections heat treatment pressure testing and pipeline reinstatement
  • Monitor anti-corrosion coating concrete coating insulation cathodic protection and field joint installation
  • Supervise welding NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) and repair activities
  • Witness pipeline hydrotesting dewatering drying nitrogen packing and mechanical completion

Qualifications and Requirements

EducationBachelor’s degree or Technical Diploma in Engineering Major in Piping or a related field
ExperienceMinimum 8 years of experience in piping quality control At least 3 years of experience on international projects
CertificationsIWE (International Welding Engineer) or CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certificate ASNT Level II certification or equivalent
Technical KnowledgeFamiliarity with QA/QC processes for oil field construction projects Proficiency in international codes and standards (ASME API etc.) Experience with relevant inspection techniques
SkillsProficiency in CAD software Strong skills in Microsoft Office and project management tools Good physical health for site-based work
