The accountant is in charge of the dairy processing plant's finances and makes sure that accurate financial reports, cost control, and data-driven decision support are all in place.
This job is in charge of using SAP ERP to keep track of financial records, look at operational costs, and come up with useful ideas that will boost profitability and operational efficiency.
The best applicant will have a solid understanding of accounting, the ability to think analytically, knowledge of manufacturing costs, and a proactive attitude to managing financial performance
Responsibilities, Roles, and Duties
Reporting and analyzing finances:
Use SAP FI/CO modules to keep track of and balance all of your financial transactions
Make sure that financial statements, management reports, and dashboards are ready on schedule and are correct
Look at financial trends, differences, and performance indicators to help you make strategic choices
Keeping track of costs and profits:
Keep an eye on and assess the expenses of production, overhead, and product margins
Set up and keep up standard costing models for butter, ice cream, yogurt, and UHT milk
Find the things that drive up costs and suggest ways to make things more efficient to boost profits
Planning and budgeting:
Help with the budgeting process by giving historical data, cost estimates, and analysis of differences
Keep an eye on how well the budget is being followed and look into any problems that come up
Work with the operations and procurement departments to make sure that your budget estimates match your production plans
Managing inventory and assets:
Use the SAP MM and FI modules to match up changes in inventory and their values
Keep an eye on stock levels, waste, and shrinkage to make sure your financial reports are correct
Keep track of fixed assets and their depreciation schedules
Compliance and Audit:
Make sure you follow all URA tax rules, pay your NSSF donations, and file all required paperwork
Get documents ready for audits and help with both internal and external audits
Keep accurate records for VAT, PAYE, and withholding tax
Improving SAP ERP:
Use SAP to make financial processes automatic, get reports in real time, and make sure the data is correct
Work with the IT and finance departments to make the system work better and be able to report better
Teach junior personnel how to use SAP and the best ways to handle money

Details
Education
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related subject is required (CPA/ACCA recommended)
Experience
At least 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in manufacturing or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG)
Skills: Experience using the SAP FI/CO and MM modules in real life Strong ability to read financial information and come up with useful ideas Advanced tools for Excel, SAP ERP, and financial modeling Knowing about Ugandan tax laws, the NSSF, and the URA
