Job Details

The Branch Operations Officer/Manager reports to the Branch Manager and is responsible for overseeing branch operations, managing risks, ensuring compliance, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. The role involves handling routine controls, asset custodianship, and supporting staff development.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor cash holdings to stay within insurance limits and minimize financial loss risks.
  • Address and resolve audit and risk issues promptly to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct self-assessments to ensure effective internal controls across branch processes, products, and systems.
  • Manage workflows to ensure compliance and reduce fraud risks.
  • Reconcile suspense accounts, addressing discrepancies to avoid losses.
  • Maintain dual control over cash reserves and strong room operations.
  • Oversee daily operations, including payment and referral authorizations, for smooth functioning and customer satisfaction.
  • Train and mentor staff, manage leave schedules, and ensure high-quality team performance.
  • Act as the primary custodian of branch assets, ensuring their safety and maintenance.
  • Log and report suspicious transactions per anti-money laundering regulations.
  • Maintain an updated user matrix to control system access and minimize fraud.
  • Ensure ATMs operate per guidelines, enhancing customer access and reducing fraud opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of banking experience.
  • Strong understanding of banking operations, products, and services.
  • Proficiency in managing internal controls and compliance.
  • Intermediate interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead, train, and manage staff effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite and banking systems.
  • Proactive, results-driven, and culturally aware.
  • Ability to work independently and manage stakeholder relationships.
