Job Summary:

The Cost Accountant will help the Finance Business Partner for Operations give all operational divisions fast and accurate information about costs and stock. 

This job is all about keeping track of costs, analyzing variances, and making sure that inventory is accounted for so that operations can make choices based on facts.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Keeping an eye on and analyzing costs

  • Help keep and review standard cost models
  • Make reports on cost variances for important cost centers in operations.
  • Help with margin analysis and give information about cost drivers and inefficiencies in operations.
  • Keep an eye on important costs including utilities, fuel, distribution, and repairs.

Accounting for Inventory and Stock

  • Keep an eye on how materials are used in all stores to make sure they are properly accounted for and priced;
  • Help organize and carry out monthly and annual stock takes;
  • Make sure that the physical and system balances match up.
  • Find differences in stock and work with the right departments to fix them.
  • Do stock movement checks and look at how old the stock is.

Support and Reporting for Operations

  • Make monthly reports on costs and stock movement
  • Help with planning and forecasting by looking at cost trends
  • Talk to people in the following departments: Production, Quality, Engineering, Transport, and Stores.
  • Keep an eye on transportation and distribution costs so you may find ways to cut them.

Rules and Regulations

  • Make sure that your inventory and cost accounting operations follow internal controls and IFRS
  • Help the audit process by keeping clear and accurate records
  • Encourage improvements in how you handle stock, report on it, and capture costs

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related profession
  • A CPA, ACCA Level 2, or CIMA qualification (a plus)
  • 3 to 5 years of expertise in accounting for costs and inventory
  • Experience in manufacturing or FMCG is a plus.
  • Good at using Excel and SAP

  • Knows a lot about how manufacturing and inventory work
  • Works well with others across divisions
  • Ability to turn numbers into useful operational information
