Job Summary
The Driver at Ruko Establishments Milk Factory will safely transport dairy products, materials, and company personnel between production sites, clients, and distribution hubs. The role ensures timely deliveries while maintaining high standards of vehicle safety, cleanliness, and customer service.
Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Deliver dairy products and materials to customers, distributors, and collection centers using company vehicles
- Load and unload products, ensuring safe handling and accurate quantities per delivery documentation
- Verify delivery documents, customer invoices, and product quantities before departure and upon arrival
- Ensure all deliveries are made on time and in good condition
- Conduct daily vehicle checks before and after trips, reporting mechanical issues immediately
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and hygiene, especially for dairy product transport
- Ensure vehicles are fueled, roadworthy, and safe to operate
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption
- Collaborate with sales and logistics teams to track delivery schedules, locations, and quantities
- Report accidents, delays, or route issues to the supervisor promptly
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers and partners
- Collect customer feedback on deliveries and report issues to the Sales and Marketing Supervisor
- Support the sales team by ensuring efficient deliveries to enhance customer satisfaction
- Follow company safety protocols for product handling and loading
- Attend periodic defensive driving and safety training sessions
- Ensure the security of company property and goods during transport
Qualifications, Education, and Competencies
- Uganda Certificate of Education (O'Level)
- Valid driving certificate from a recognized driving school
- Valid CM and CH driving license
- 2 to 3 years of experience driving in FMCG sales or distribution, preferably in dairy or food production
- Defensive Driving Certificate (preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of road networks and routes in assigned areas
- High focus on safety, vehicle maintenance, and time management
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical fitness for loading and unloading tasks when required
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Delivery Timeliness: Percentage of on-time deliveries
- Product Integrity: Number of deliveries without damage or loss
- Vehicle Maintenance: Frequency of breakdowns due to driver negligence
- Fuel Efficiency: Fuel consumption relative to distance traveled
- Customer Satisfaction: Resolved complaints and positive feedback
- Documentation Accuracy: Completeness and correctness of delivery and mileage records
- Safety Compliance: Adherence to driving laws, safety rules, and accident-free record
- Team Coordination: Support provided to sales and logistics teams
