Roles & Responsibilities / Main Tasks
Transportation Services: Drive school vehicles to take staff students official visitors and materials to other places as needed for official business field trips workshops and other school events
Safety of Passengers and commodities: Follow all traffic laws and use defensive driving tactics to make sure that all passengers and commodities are completely safe while they are being transported
Vehicle Maintenance: Check the assigned vehicle's gasoline oil water tire pressure brakes and lights every day to make sure it is in the best mechanical condition possible Do small things to keep the vehicle in good shape and clean both inside and out
Reporting and Keeping Records: Let the Manager Estates & Works know right away about any problems with a vehicle accidents or repairs that need to be made Keep accurate and current records of all vehicle movements mileage fuel use and service schedules
Logistical Support: Help the institution by bringing and picking up documents equipment and other things as needed Help in the planning of School events such as setting up venues and moving supplies
Compliance: Always follow all Ugandan traffic laws MUBS institutional rules and workplace health and safety requirements
Other Duties: Do any other tasks that the Manager of Estates & Works Section may give you
Academic Qualifications
Qualification
It is necessary to have the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent
Skills and Experience
A valid driver's license at least Class D1 Having extra classes like Class D is a big plus
At least five (5) years of continuous accident-free driving experience with a well-known company Having a Defensive Driving Certificate and basic mechanical skills for finding and fixing little problems with vehicles are big pluses
A lot of experience with routes in and around Kampala and a good understanding of traffic laws
You must be a Ugandan citizen 50 years old or younger when you apply and have never been disciplined or had a professional misconduct record
Some important qualities are honesty dependability professionalism and the ability to treat staff students and visitors with respect
