Job Summary

Makerere University Business School (MUBS) is looking for someone to be the Deputy Chief of its Estates and Works Department This high-level technical and management job is in charge of designing developing managing and keeping up the School's whole physical infrastructure and estates.

The Deputy Chief will be in charge of engineering construction facilities management and environmental sustainability.

 They will make sure that MUBS's infrastructure serves its academic goal and meets all national laws and safety regulations The best candidate will be a registered engineer who has worked on many projects in a significant institution

• Infrastructure Planning: Plan lead and coordinate the building and upkeep of all MUBS infrastructure such as buildings utilities and grounds
• Project Management: Make sure that all construction renovation and maintenance projects are finished on schedule within budget and to the highest engineering and safety standards
• Estates Management: Create and put into action complete estates management systems such as asset registrations and timetables for preventive maintenance
• Compliance: Make sure that all rules and regulations including the Occupational Safety and Health Act environmental laws and construction requirements are followed
• Sustainability: Include measures for climate resilience and sustainability in infrastructure projects and encourage energy efficiency and green building practices
• Technical Advisory: Give the School Secretary and Management competent technical advice on developing the campus how to use land and how to invest in infrastructure

• You must be fully registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) of Uganda
• At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in engineering or estates management including at least three (3) years at a Senior Management level (PU5 or higher)
• Must have a Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC) that is still good
• Must be a Ugandan citizen under the age of 55 and have a clean record of discipline
• It helps to have specialized training in green building technology or occupational health and safety
