What it is

Exquisite Solution Limited is looking for a Transport Safety Manager for a customer in the logistics and manufacturing fields.  The job includes making sure that safety rules are followed in all areas of transportation and operations as well as promoting a strong safety culture

Main Duties

• Check vehicles equipment and buildings on a regular basis to find dangers and make sure they are safe
• Make sure that national and regional safety rules are followed and be the main point of contact for audits
• Look at the dangers (such tired drivers and handling heavy loads) and come up with ways to lessen them
• Make and keep up-to-date policies for health and safety in transportation
• Teach people about defensive driving emergency procedures and being aware of their surroundings
• Look into accidents near-misses and rule infractions and do root cause studies
• Make sure that vehicles and equipment are safe (for example brakes tires and ergonomics)
• Make arrangements for what to do if there is an accident a breakdown or a natural disaster
• Use audits and trend analysis to keep an eye on safety performance
• Work with HR fleet management and drivers to encourage a proactive safety culture

Requirements and Qualifications

• Qualification: A bachelor's degree in an area relating to occupational health and safety industrial engineering environmental science or something similar
• Experience: You need to have worked in safety management in logistics transportation or manufacturing for at least five years
• Abilities: Professional safety certificates (such NEBOSH CSP and OHST) are a plus
• Good at figuring things out and solving problems
• Proven ability to lead communicate and get along with others
• Has a history of spearheading safety audits training and projects
• Willingness to travel a lot around Uganda for site visits and inspections
