The Packaging Operator at Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) operates the packaging process to ensure minimal product quality variation, maximum throughput, and minimal waste The role focuses on maintaining and optimizing equipment to support efficient packaging operations
Duties, Roles, and Responsibilities
Maintain a safe and healthy workplace by adhering to health, safety, and environmental regulations
Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards
Identify and report safety and environmental issues promptly
Handle and dispose of hazardous substances correctly in the work environment
Maintain, calibrate, repair, and optimize plant and related equipment
Identify and manage plant, equipment, spare parts, and necessary documentation or systems
Plan and prepare for maintenance tasks
Perform autonomous task ownership (ATO) on equipment
Operate plant and process equipment efficiently
Optimize the use of spare parts and manage stock availability
Support scheduled maintenance and repair activities
Provide specialized technical support to enhance machine, system, and process capabilities
Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues
Assist with maintenance and breakdown calls
Contribute to hygiene and quality improvement initiatives
Develop plans to improve machine efficiency, reliability, quality, utility, and safety
Conduct machine audits and provide team feedback
Manage stock and optimize technical spare parts and supplies
Ensure routable spares are ready for use
Collaborate effectively within teams and communicate clearly
Support team development through coaching and training
Apply VPO and 5S principles and methods in daily operations
Follow SOPs for process operation and control
Assist with immediate problem-solving using tools like 5why and QFR
Use proven tools for systematic problem-solving efforts
Participate in maintenance and quality-based maintenance activities
Enhance personal and team skills using SKAP
Contribute to efforts to reduce setup time
Qualifications, Education, and Skills
Requirement
Details
Education
Higher or Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering BSc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is a plus
Experience
At least one year of work experience, preferably in the FMCG industry
Skills and Traits: Analytical ability and attention to detail Proven leadership and collaboration skills with teams, various company levels, and suppliers Self-motivated and enthusiastic Ability to handle stress and meet deadlines Strong communication and interpersonal skills Team player Proficiency in basic computer programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
