Employment Information

DFCU Bank is hiring a People and Culture Officer in Kampala, Uganda, to support the Head of Culture Transformation in embedding a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture. 

Main Responsibilities

Culture Program Support

  • Assist in implementing the Bank’s cultural strategy and ensure its success.
  • Plan and coordinate events and projects to enhance team collaboration.
  • Manage logistics and administration for culture-related events, campaigns, and projects.

Employee Experience and Engagement

  • Support the distribution of employee engagement surveys and follow up on action plans.
  • Assist in planning programs to promote employee well-being, inclusion, and teamwork.
  • Collaborate with HR and internal communications to align culture and values across the organization.

Behavioral Initiatives

  • Embed behavioral expectations into daily operations and communications.
  • Support team workshops and activities to promote desired behaviors.

Learning, Recognition, and Storytelling

  • Organize learning sessions, recognition programs, and storytelling events aligned with the organization’s ethos.
  • Collect and document success stories and examples of values in action for internal sharing.

Performance Culture Support

  • Collaborate with the Head of Culture and P&C Business Partners to implement performance management systems aligned with the Bank’s culture.
  • Assist in communication, tracking, and reporting on performance milestones, such as goal setting, mid-year reviews, and feedback.
  • Support training and awareness initiatives on performance objectives, values-driven performance, and managerial competencies.

Culture Monitoring and Reporting

  • Collect data for cultural indicators, pulse checks, and employee feedback.
  • Prepare simple reports and presentations to track progress toward culture goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of cultural events and their outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills

RequirementDetails
EducationBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related humanities field
Additional EducationMaster’s degree in Human Resources or a specialized certification (preferred)
Experience2-4 years in HR, employee engagement, internal communications, or organizational development
Specialized ExperienceExperience in organizational culture or change programs (preferred)
CommunicationExcellent communication and coordination skills
Technical SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with HR systems or survey tools
Performance ManagementUnderstanding of performance management and its link to organizational culture
Analytical SkillsAbility to track and report on multiple activities with a focus on detail and analysis
Personal AttributesPeople-centered, creative, collaborative, and able to lead small group sessions
