Purpose of the Job

The Beverage Production Team Leader is responsible for the full plant’s production operations. The goal is to ensure that the production process delivers high-quality products while maintaining cost efficiency, contributing to customer satisfaction and sustainable business growth.

Important Duties and Responsibilities

People PracticesTrain team members on operational and technical job requirements. Ensure monitoring of process inputs and outputs for desired results. Verify quality checks are performed and recorded correctly. Support team growth through one-on-one meetings and performance assessments. Drive performance management techniques (e.g., Performance Management Way) by setting team goals, holding meetings, and reviewing progress. Manage human resource availability, leave, and utilization. Lead World Class Manufacturing (WCM) projects during shifts and coach team members on work practices.
Control of Operations and ProcessesEnsure team members adhere to operational, quality, and process standards, work instructions, maintenance schedules, and performance targets. Review and sign off on shift performance (QCDSM) and complete administrative tasks. Address immediate material availability needs, resolve escalated production issues, and ensure sufficient resources for updating work instructions. Enforce safety and cleanliness standards.
Taking Care of Plant and EquipmentEnsure team members perform autonomous maintenance and running repairs per work instructions and schedules. Support process artisans in repairs, training, and maintenance tasks. Attend maintenance planning meetings, communicate plans to the team, and ensure line readiness for maintenance. Assign team members to maintenance tasks, initiate emergency work orders, and provide feedback on completion. Ensure artisans assist maintenance specialists during maintenance and post-mortems.
Quality Control and StudyEnsure team members follow quality standards and perform regular quality checks. Conduct quality trend analysis to identify and resolve issues. Ensure problem-solving addresses root causes and accurate quality data is collected manually or electronically.
Talking to Each OtherCommunicate team goals and align members through regular check-ins. Review prior shift performance, prepare for daily shift meetings, and update visual management boards. Lead daily shift meetings with a set agenda, ensuring team engagement. Document issues and opportunities on the gap list with deadlines. Share production schedules, shift performance, and business updates. Conduct end-of-shift and handover meetings to discuss performance, challenges, and schedules.
Finding SolutionsCoach team members on problem-solving methods (e.g., 5Why, rapid fix, OPL). Decide on escalation actions for unresolved issues, ensure solutions eliminate problems, and update work instructions. Escalate unresolved issues to the Level 2 team (technical meeting).
Always Getting BetterImplement SIC systems to monitor and reduce waste (e.g., mass balance). Ensure team awareness of waste reduction and process improvement goals. Record and display progress targets in meeting rooms. Analyze gap list opportunities for process improvement or waste reduction, involving experts as needed.
Judgment and Making DecisionsMake quick, effective decisions to facilitate team actions. Apply strictness and operational discipline to ensure timely decisions. Weigh options explicitly for critical judgments.

Schooling and/or Work Experience

RequirementDescription
EducationAt least a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
ExperienceAt least 2-3 years of real-world experience in the food industry. Experience in a beverage production factory is a significant advantage.
Key RequirementsKnowledge of carbonated soft drinks and/or water treatment plants. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, maintain a positive attitude, and provide excellent customer service. Ability to work independently within given instructions, routines, and accepted practices. Proven leadership and management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence at the shop floor level. Strong problem-solving skills with logical thinking and quick solutions. High attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to train and coach team members. Practical approach balancing quality and productivity. Assertiveness and negotiation skills.
