Job Summary:

The Agricultural Research Technician - Soil Science will help with soil research by collecting data, sampling in the field, and analyzing samples in the lab. 

The job helps with research on soil health, managing fertility, and farming practices that are good for the environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Get samples of soil and water from study locations and farming communities.
  • Test the soil in a lab for things like pH, nutritional content, and organic matter.
  • Help set up and run field experiments that have to do with soil fertility and conservation.
  • Keep proper records of research data and make summary reports.
  • Set up and keep in good working order the lab and field equipment used for soil analysis.
  • Help researchers set up and run soil management trials and demonstrations.
  • Share research results by taking part in farmer training programs and field days.
  • Oversee casual workers while they are doing fieldwork and collecting data.

Skills, qualifications, and experience:

Important Requirements:

  • A diploma in agriculture, soil science, environmental science, or a field connected to these.
  • At least two years of experience in agricultural research, lab work, or collecting data in the field.
  • Hands-on experience with basic lab processes and soil sampling methods.
  • Knowledge of how to use digital equipment and data gathering tools to capture field observations.
  • Ability to work in rural areas and do physically demanding jobs.

More Benefits:

  • A bachelor's degree in soil science, agronomy, or a similar field.
  • Experience with soil mapping tools or geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Learning how to manage soil in a way that is good for the environment.

Necessary Skills:

  • Good at paying attention to details and organizing things.
  • Good at talking to people and working with others.
  • Knows how to use a computer for data input and reporting.
  • Promise to follow safety and ethical rules in study.

  • Copies of transcripts and academic certificates.
