PalmPay is a Pan-African fintech startup that is now working in Ghana and Nigeria and is growing into other markets in Uganda.
We're changing the way people pay by making it fast and safe for everyone to send money, pay bills, and shop online.
Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Financial Planning and Analysis: Makes long-term financial plans, does budgeting, and makes predictions to help the company stay on track with its money.
- Reporting and Compliance: Makes sure that financial reports are accurate and follow state regulations. This includes keeping an eye on financial transactions and making sure they follow the rules.
- Investment Management: This person is in charge of making judgments about investments and looking at financial data to help the company expand and make money.
- Cost Management: Analyzes costs to find ways to cut them and make sure the firm stays within its budget. This means keeping an eye on costs and handling accounts payable and receivable.
- Team Leadership: Leads and oversees the finance team to make sure that all financial tasks are done quickly and correctly. You should also help hire and train finance staff.
- Risk Management: Looks at financial risks and makes plans to reduce them, making sure the organization's finances are stable.
- Stakeholder Communication: Talks to stakeholders, like senior management and investors, about financial performance and strategies to help them make decisions.
- Audit Coordination: During financial audits, this person acts as a go-between for the company and outside auditors, making sure that the relevant paperwork is delivered and that the organization follows auditing standards.
Skills, Education, and Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a similar discipline.
- You need to have a CPA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification.
- Being a member of a well-known professional group (such ICPAU, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Must be a citizen of Uganda.
- Experience: 5 or more years of experience in a senior financial management capacity, ideally in the banking or fintech industry.
- A lot of experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Being able to use financial software like Sage, SAP, or QuickBooks.
- A lot of understanding of tax law, financial rules, and how to handle risk.
- Skills and abilities:
- Advanced skills in Excel and financial modeling.
- Good understanding of GAAP and IFRS rules.
- Great talents in analysis, communication, and leadership.
- Ability to make processes better and make financial systems work better.
- Strong skills in negotiating, writing contracts, and managing stakeholders.
- A good understanding of Uganda's tax and banking rules.

- A lot of honesty and professionalism.
- A lot of attention to detail and correctness.
- Able to handle stress and meet tight deadlines.
- Good in working with others and being part of a team.
