Job Summary:

The Human Resources Supervisor will carry out and oversee important HR tasks like compliance, hiring, managing performance, and dealing with employees. This strategic function makes sure that all Ugandan labor regulations are followed and helps management establish a productive, motivated workforce in the fast-paced world of finance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Legal and Compliance Framework:

  • Make sure that HR policies follow Uganda's Employment Act, 2006, and any other laws that apply.
  • Keep an eye on your legal duties, such as NSSF, PAYE, and Workers' Compensation.
  • Put in place rules for health and safety at work.
  • Get ready for government audits and labor inspections.
  • As required by the Data Protection Act, 2019, keep employee records private.
  • Make sure that your HR policies are up to date with the law.

Hiring and onboarding:

  • Oversee the hiring and selection processes in all departments
  • Make sure that hiring is based on merit and that there is diversity
  • Plan and run complete onboarding and orientation programs
  • Take care of job offers and employment contracts.
  • Make plans on how to find and hire talented people.
  • Keep track of recruitment metrics and reports

Relations and Performance with Employees:

  • Be the main point of contact for employee complaints and conflict resolution
  • Carry out fair and legal disciplinary actions
  • Oversee performance appraisal cycles and growth plans
  • Use techniques to keep and engage employees.
  • Take care of staff welfare and morale programs
  • Help workers and management talk to each other

Administration and Operations in HR:

  • Oversee the work of HR assistants and other administrative tasks
  • Manage leave requests and timesheet processing
  • Check and enter payroll information
  • Make monthly HR reports on things like turnover, absenteeism, and disciplinary actions.
  • Keep track of HRIS data and document control correctly.
  • Put in place effective HR procedures and processes

Training and Building Capacity:

  • Figure out what training and development programs the firm needs
  • Help management and staff learn about HR policies
  • Mentor less experienced members of the HR team
  • Increase the HR department's internal capability and professional growth
  • Plan and organize programs to help people improve their skills
  • Help in planning for professional growth

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, industrial psychology, or HR management
  • Professional HR certification or a postgraduate diploma in HRM
  • At least five years of HR experience that has become better over time
  • At least two years of experience as an HR supervisor
  • A lot of understanding about Ugandan labor regulations
  • Experience with investigations and disciplinary hearings for employees
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Office and HR software systems
  • The ability to lead and make decisions
  • The ability to handle conflict and have emotional intelligence
  • Strong moral judgment and the ability to keep secrets
  • Great at planning and organizing
  • Good at talking to and getting along with others
  • Thinking strategically and addressing problems
  • Skills for managing a team and becoming a mentor
  • Being open-minded and adaptable to other cultures

Skills in technology:

  • Knowledge of HRIS management
  • Knowledge of recruitment and selection
  • Knowledge of performance management systems
  • Knowledge of compliance monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of report production and analysis
  • Knowledge of policy development and implementation
