Job Summary

The Finance Officer Reconciliations at KCB Bank Uganda will ensure the accuracy and compliance of financial transactions by overseeing reconciliation processes, tax filings, and asset management. This entry-level role involves monitoring suspense accounts, streamlining reconciliation systems, and preparing reports for management, contributing to the bank’s operational efficiency.

Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Review monthly reconciliation reports prepared by bank officials and compile status reports for management
  • Monitor suspense account usage and ensure non-compliant transactions are resolved within policy timelines
  • Ensure full reconciliation of transaction processing systems (e.g., Oracle Financials, Sopra, Core Banking system)
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance reconciliation processes
  • Support the development and implementation of new reconciliation tools, systems, and processes
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns (e.g., VAT, withholding taxes, excise duty) in compliance with regulations
  • Process vendor or service provider bills in line with internal policies, completing account reconciliations as needed
  • Ensure asset purchases, sales, depreciation, and impairments comply with accounting standards
  • Develop and maintain effective accounting systems for tracking, managing, and reporting assets

Qualifications, Education, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Commerce, or Finance
  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA or CPAU Level 2 (preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in financial accounting, tax management, stakeholder management, banking operations, risk management, and digital skills

Key Skills

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., Oracle Financials, Core Banking systems)
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
